In the recent past, Playstation came out at the top of the console debate in Ireland. However, a few years on and new generation consoles make reaching a verdict much more difficult.
The Three Contenders
First, we have the Playstation 4. Originally released in 2013, and in 2016 it was split into the Playstation 4 Slim and Playstation 4 Pro. In its favour is a good range of original games and good power.
Second, the Xbox One. Also released in 2013 and later split up into the Xbox One S and the Xbox One X. The Xbox One X is the forerunner when it comes to power, but the offerings in terms of games are not quite as good as the Playstation’s.
Finally, we have the Nintendo Switch. Released in 2017 and one of Nintendo’s most popular consoles in history. It is different from the other two as it can be handheld or connected to your television. Its compact design and portability are definite advantages.
What You Should Consider
The type of games that can be played on the specific console is a big consideration. When choosing a console, you need to think about the types of games that you like to play and the games that the console offers. Playstation’s offering is different from Nintendo’s, for example, so keep that in mind.
Another thing to consider is your television and the power that you will need. If you have a 4K HDR television, you might want to consider the Xbox One X because it is by far the most powerful console of the three. The Playstation Pro would be the next best option.
Also consider which controllers feel more comfortable, online offerings and capabilities, multiplayer options, and age.
Taking these things into account, there was no clear winner, but each console offers its own strong points. The choice will ultimately depend on what you like and how you want to play.
